BUILDING A NONPROFIT POWERHOUSE
Story:
Our brand director James Feng co-founded SALT Collectiv, the first nonprofit in Taiwan focusing on building a community of international volunteers. Given the nature of this project, we took it on as pro-bono. Our team’s goal: to build SALT Collectiv into a powerhouse brand in the nonprofit industry here in Taiwan.
Our plan of attack was simple: get the word out about SALT. Strategy we used: build a strong digital presence with catchy social media content specifically focusing on cool event recap videos. We also helped design the first SALT t-shirt for the volunteers to wear which would help people identity SALT in the social media space.
SALT had a goal in 2022 to run a private fundraising campaign to help with expansions for the next two years, part of our job was to prepare for this fundraising effort by building a slick looking website from scratch. We completed the project successfully and helped SALT secure their funding for the next two years.
Step 1: Brand Identity
- Research – We researched multiple different nonprofit organizations such as World Vision and Charity Water amongst many others to provide a benchmark.
- Target Audience – Determined the target audience as international English speaking people living in Taiwan who are interested in volunteering.
- Brand Story – Crafted together a brand story to use as part of pitch proposal for fundraising.
Step 2: Digital Assets
- Photoshoots – We organized multiple photoshoots for the client for various events and also the core team’s group photos shown on website.
- Event Videos – For social media content we focused on shooting videos for all the various volunteer events the client had.
- Fundraising Video – A 2021 SALT Collectiv recap video was created to show the potential sponsors all that SALT had accomplished within the past year.
Step 3. Website
- Competitor Research – We researched a lot of other websites of non-profits to compiled data and shared the findings with client.
- Themes – We proposed three different WordPress premium themes for the client to choose from, all customized features and functions tailored.
- Multiple Languages – After the English version of the website was built, we then built the Chinese part of the website next.
- Blogs – We developed and executed a whole blog section for SALT Collectiv to optimize SEO utilizing 9 of their volunteers.
