Camphor Designs Case Study

The Story: 

When Camphor Designs first shared their products with us, we were impressed with the craftsmanship and the unique features they added that other camping chairs and tables didn’t. We were excited to work with them due to the infinite potential we saw in their products. Besides having a logo, they didn’t have anything else, so we started crafting their brand from scratch with a simple goal: to help Camphor Designs become a top Taiwanese camping brand on Amazon.

Step 1: Product Research

  1. We discovered their top competitors and looked up their background, Kingcamp & Cliq were the two brands we took a closer look at.
  2. Looking at customer reviews for the top 25 products, we noticed that customers have similar pain points: poor product quality and the need for a swing hammock chair.
  3. Hence, we concluded that the first 3 products we launched are the swing hammock, single director, and double loveseat chairs.

Step 2: Creating A New Brand

  1. Product Photos: We went into the studio, shot their studio pictures, and did 360 photos since we wanted the consumers to see the product from all angles.
  2. Lifestyle Photos: We shot the lifestyle photos together with the film shoot.
  3. Branding Video: We came up with 2 concepts to shoot: a group of friends camping and doing a BBQ at a park. Since these environments are the ones most commonly used by our target audience for the gear, we set on. We successfully planned the film shoot and cast the actors, as well as locked down the locations for the shoot. After the client approved the final proposal, we executed the project, filming them near Taipei City.
  4. How-to videos: What’s essential for these products is instructional videos to show Amazon customers how to put these together. So, we created individual videos for each product on how to assemble and break them down. We planned to include these videos inside the lineup/carousel images section after the images. A brand like Camphor Designs must optimize every detail since it’s a new brand on Amazon; we need all the competitive edge we can get.

Step 3: Amazon Ready

AMAZON KEYWORD RESEARCH
  1. In-depth keyword research using both Google Keyword Planner and ZonGuru.
  2. Focus on long-tail customer-searched keywords with decent search volume (>500) that the top 25 competitors aren’t using.
  3. Compile a list of keywords for listing optimization and PPC advertising.
LISTING OPTIMIZATION
  • Listing Optimization – We did a complete listing optimization for all the products using researched keywords – product title, pricing, images, bullet points, description, backend keywords, and other relevant backend details.
  • A+ Content – We created and launched all the product’s A+ content and relevant keywords.
  • Amazon Storefront – We created the Amazon Storefront here:

AMAZON PPC
  • Launch Automatic and Manual PPC campaigns for all SKUs.
  • Optimize the PPC campaign weekly.

Step 4: Zeczec Campaign 

We also convinced Camphors Design to do the local Taiwanese Kickstarter platform Zeczec, the product ended up almost reaching 1 million NT, another successful campaign! 

Step 5. Amazon Launch

Camphors performed wonderfully on Amazon after it launched:

-(1st Month) February: USD 2219.78

-May 2023: USD 41,235.96

-August 2023 USD 53,284.56 

 

Summary: 

  1. Successfully helped create a new brand, Camphors Design for Amazon, with our complete branding package. 
  2. Had a blastoff launch averaging more than $28,562.27 per month after 8 months.
  3. Next goal: Getting Camphors Design into more Amazon territories outside the U.S.A. Australia and Europe are in the works.
